Jan 4, 2011 --- Recent accidents in the area have raised concerns about the safety of general aviation.
CBS 3 in Springfield did a piece on safety that featured the Northampton Airport.
Rich MacIsaac, the airport manager, was interviewed extensively explaining that the crashes can be avoided by thorough training and a long-term commitment to observing basic rules of safety. Flight instructor Mike Mosher showed how to properly preflight a plane.
Massachusetts Secretary of Transporation Jeffrey Mullan, who was visiting the airport, explained that the rash of accidents were isolated incidents and not the sign of a trend.
