How He Got Started: Dick had always been interested in learning to fly, but while teaching he didn't have the time to pursue it. After he retired a friend gave him a gift certificate for three flight lessons, and he was hooked.

He finally had the time and the money, so he jumped into the deep end-- purchasing his Cardinal only three months after starting his training!
